Scotch Dry Erase Tape

This Scotch Dry Erase Tape could be used as a quick formative assessment in the classroom or name tags!
A teacher at a workshop this summer gave me a tip she used in the classroom. She had kids pick sticks as they walked in the room in the morning.  The sticks were the table number that they would sit at for the day. She said constantly changing where you sit helped with classroom management.  I'm not sure if I would do this all year long but I could see if for the first couple weeks of school.  They could use the Scotch dry erase tape as a name tag since they would be changing everyday. I definitely have to think of this idea over the summer.   What do you think of this idea?

This is not my Hat - mentor text

This is Not My Hat is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Jon Klassen.

Why I love this book: I haven't used this book yet in my class but it was recommended to me.  The kids will eat this book up as it is engaging and it relates to right and wrong.  The pictures do not always go along with the text which is exciting.  They will have to hear the words and use the pictures to see what is really going on in the text.

Use as a mentor text: Predicting, Inferring, point of view, plot

Use for writing (writing prompts): Have you ever felt overconfident?  Justify something you did that was wrong?  How did the little fish justify why he has the hat?  Write this story in the perspective of the large fish. Write a reflection if you were the crab.
